Planning Investments Around the NSE Holidays 2023 List

The Indian stock exchanges follow T+2 settlement days, which means if you invest in any stock today, it will get credited to your demat account after 2 days. For example, if you buy stocks on Friday, they will be credited on Tuesday because the market is closed on Saturday and Sunday. In a similar way, there are NSE holidays 2023 list on which the market remains closed, and you’ll see how to plan your investments.

List of trading holidays on the NSE

There are in total 15 holidays on the NSE holidays 2023 list and four are held on Saturday and Sunday. The two types of total holidays that exist are clearing holidays and trading holidays.

Clearing holidays are the days when there are no settlements or deliveries of stocks and commodities but the market remains open for trade. However, on the trading holidays, there will be no trading or settlement of securities.

Here is the list of holidays when the market remains closed for trading purposes in the equity market in 2023:

For example, if the 15th of August is both the trading and clearing holiday on the NSE in 2023, then the 11th of August trade will get settled on the 17th of August because there will be a holiday on Saturday and Sunday in between and then the 15th of August and the 16th of August.

If there is only the clearing holiday and not the trading holiday, then there will be a different process. For example, on August 16, 2023, there will be a Parsi New Year, during which there will be clearing of holdings in the equity segment but not the trading holiday. As a result, the trades from August 14 and 16 will be combined and settled on August 18.

Conclusion

Therefore, having information about today share market open and close timings as well as the NSE holidays is important for making the best investment plans around these days.
